In February of 2009, the Federal government passed the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA). This $780 billion plus bill is designed to help stimulate the economy. It also authorized the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act which sets aside some $20 billion dollars specifically for Health IT. The purpose is to make available funds that will be reimbursed through the Medicare or Medicaid programs for those medical practitioners who select, purchase, and install software capable of demonstrating "Meaningful Use" of health IT systems. The software is designed to replace the traditional paper based patient data records systems with an electronic version known as an Electronic Health Record (EHR). This transition represents a paradigm shift in the way that the medical community captures, stores, uses, and shares patient medical data.
Austin-IT is now prepared to offer IT services to Health Care practitioners in order to help them make this transition and to provide ongoing support for these IT systems. During the coming months, we will be adding information to our website on EHR systems as well as working with the medical community to provide solutions that will assist in EHR adoption and implementation.
Austin-IT wishes all of our customers a very Happy 4th! Be safe, enjoy the fireworks, and have a great time with friends and family this Holiday.
